We are a brand dedicated to tackling and targeting the concept of ‘inflammaging’ – a modern day skin concern when inflammation of many varieties due to lifestyle or environmental factors can have a direct impact on skin health and vitality. Modern life takes its toll on skin, often reflecting the stress, tech-based lifestyle, pollution and dietary factors it is exposed to, leading us to look lacklustre.
Chronic oxidative stress can cause accelerated tissue damage, weakening skin structure and leading to the breakdown of elastin and collagen, ultimately impairing the skin’s barrier function. This contributes to the development of many unwanted dermatologic symptoms – wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and textural changes;
Skin Bureaux aims to tackle signs of inflammation with both a pre-emptive and corrective approach.
Whilst inflammation can help our bodies protect itself from harm it can have devastating long-term outcomes on our quality of life. Whilst injury and infection can be treated effectively with surgery, support, physiotherapy or prescription medication, environmental and chemical derived inflammation is more difficult to treat, control and avoid.
Dr Victoria and Dr Charlotte have spent 30 years working with patients skin health to combat these signs of ageing and working with them on lifestyle advice and education to reduce their inflammatory index (an indicator on patients exposure to toxin exposure)

CBD & CBG
Powerful alone, and a super power together, 1% of CBD & CBG each have been included in Skin Bureaux formulas for their skin nurturing and anti-inflammatory properties.
We are using a UK company who specialise in delivering naturally-sourced CBD and CBG and are ahead of the curve when it comes to CBD marketing regulations. They have the highest safety, quality and efficacy standards, meaning the ingredients we use really deliver.
CBD
CBD is found in the cannabis plant. CBD oil can be made from both marijuana or hemp cannabis plant. However, in order for CBD products to be considered legal, it must come from a hemp plant and have low (0.003%) or no THC levels.
CBD’s effects all come down to the body’s endocannabinoid system, which is a network of 5-HT receptors that are activated and play a role in maintaining homeostasis in the body.
CBD interacts with the receptors of the endocannabinoid system, that are found mainly in the brain and immune cells. Introducing CBD to the body enhances the efficacy of the endocannabinoid system.

CBG
Most people have heard of CBD, but we expect cannabigerol (CBG) to be the next major cannabinoid. It attaches to the receptor cells in a different way to CBD, and has increased penetration into the skin.
The way CBG interacts with our endocannabinoid system is different from CBD. CBG binds directly to both CB1 and CB2 receptors and might be more efficient at delivering its benefits into our systems
One of the biggest differences between CBD and CBG is the quantity which is found in most cannabis plants. Most cannabis plants contain only 1% of CBG, but up to 25% of CBD.
Aiming to be as sustainable as possible, and conscious of launching another skincare range into the market, Dr Victoria Manning and Dr Charlotte Woodward worked hard to ensure all packaging comes without excess paper and that product housing and airless pumps are recyclable.
